EMPLOYMENT LITIGATION

Welcome Wagon

Issues: Unpaid Minimum Wages, Unpaid Overtime

On November 4, 2024, former Certified Mortgage Executives (“CMEs”) who worked for Welcome Wagon, Inc. filed a collective and class action lawsuit for unpaid minimum wages, overtime pay, and other damages in New York and nationwide. The lawsuit specifically seeks to recover unpaid wages and under the New York Labor Law (“NYLL”) and the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”) for CMEs.

These complaints alleges that Welcome Wagon, owned by Porch Group Media, paid CMEs only commissions. As a result, the Complaint alleges that CMEs were underpaid and should have received minimum wages and overtime pay when they worked over 40 hours in a workweek.

If you work for Welcome Wagon or a similar company, make sure you are getting paid for all of your hours worked and at the correct rate. Unfortunately, this industry is notorious for skirting wage laws in order to save on labor costs.
